Rs 15 lakh ex-gratia for family of gangrape victim
New Delhi. Condoling the death of gangrape victim, the Delhi Cabinet on Monday decided to sanction an amount of 15 lakh to the surviving members of the 23-year-old student. The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, also decided to offer job to one of the family members.
“Keeping in view the extreme exceptional circumstances and barbaric nature of the crime the Cabinet decided to sanction an amount of 15 lakh to the surviving members of the victim. The decision has been taken by effecting relaxation in rules,” the Chief Minister told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.
The Delhi Cabinet, which met to share the grief of the citizens over the recent horrific incident of gang rape and subsequent demise of girl, joined the nation in conveying their heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. Ms Dikshit said the Council of Ministers also observed a two minute silence in memory of the victim.
The Cabinet also decided to offer job to one of the family members. The Cabinet placed on record its appreciation for the outstanding work and the contribution made by the outgoing Chief Secretary P K Tripathi towards providing better governance in Delhi. UNI
