Story needs coherance, it should be narrated in 3 lines !

Jaipur: The fourth day of the Jaipur Literature Festival was no different than the previous three, with crowds and fans busy dotting every inch of Diggi Palace. The morning session was about the Hindi films, Script, Story and Screenplay. The session was chaired by the cluster of poets of our Hindi film industry, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Prasoon Joshi and Vishal bharadwaj. The session was moderated by Samit Basu.

The interactive session was based on the fashion of script and screenplay we have in our Hindi Cinema. Gulzar who has his mastery over the poetic ends said “The mental part works on the thought process, and for me it begins when i start writing on my note pad”. Gulzar focussed on the story and scripts written today.

Javed Akhtar revealing some interesting secrets of Indian Cinema said “Story needs coherance every story should be able to narrate in 3 lines” Prasoon Joshi interestingly said that “Religions are narrative because of the stories they hold, and because of a story we have our religion”.

Drawing a thin line between the cinema and the books, Gulzar with a smile said “Cinema is a collective effort while books we mean a personal relationship”. In reply Vishal Bhaeadwaj noted musician said, “For me reservation of the story is much important. The story flows cback from the climax, ruthless ambitions leads to the destruction”.

Hindi films no doubt have its own realms, songs play very important role in narratives. Structures are chanding and the story lines are becomming thin. Gulzar interestingly said that , “I would love to start my script with a short story”.
